Generally it records the ancestry of a person or a clan usually identifiable by the surname.

Whether it is Wong, Lee or Chan, this is where the families take pride in their family heritage and history. In most cases, the surnames will lead you to the village or the place where it came from although a lot of diversified in modern times.
